……with my words.

Gotcha- nope this post is not an ode to one of my favorite rappers, Drake. Maybe next time never.

For a month and a half, I had ventured off to a new place, taking in all the trying tribulations and revitalizing experiences that will prepare me for the next couple of years. Institute training for my new job was awesome, and one of most memorable moments of it all happened for me on the second-to-last day.

We wrote our six word story .

American author and Pulitzer Prize winner, Ernest Hemingway(1899-1961), had a style of writing that was both distinct and untouchable. While out on the town with friends, he placed a wager of ten dollars that he could write a story in all of six words. The result: “For sale, baby shoes, never worn.”

In seeing how something so powerful was able to come out of just a few words, at training we had been given the task to create our own.

This was my creation:

blog today

The room was booming with six words stories, some filled with emotion, while others’ words were drenched in confusion of the assignment. Some people decided to take the humorous route, while others went philosophical. However, one thing was true: we all had our own story to tell and that was the beauty of it all.

Today’s Keyword: challenge |ˈCHalənj|:  invite (someone) to engage in a contest; invite (someone) to do something that one thinks will be difficult or impossible; dare

No lie, this definitely was an assignment that pushed us all to think much deeper than we had before. The six word story is something that has been around for decades so today, I challenge you all to keep it going!!

  1. Create your own Six Word Story
  2. Place it in your Notes or on a fun graphic app (Font Candy, Fontspiration, etc.)
  3. Post it on your Instagram (if n/a , Twitter or Facebook will suffice)
  4. Caption can be whatever you want, just be sure to #WhatsYaSix #KiWordWednesday
  5. Tag three people, challenging them to keep it going!

Our generation has the power to get so many mind provoking things trending, but instead we decide to put all of our time into foolishness (see Don’t Judge Me Challenge). Today, let’s change world views and trend something we can all have fun with and put our own unique spin on.

May the challenge be in your favor,

Ki.
