Save Room for Your (Own Damn) Love

attack your dreams. embrace your flaws. you are enough.

That what you see above is no typo. It is my morning ritual (as of two weeks ago, but hey it’s a start). These are the three phrases poorly splattered on my bathroom mirror in black Expo, as a daily reminder to get off my ass and be both productive and content (and Ma before you call, yes it is erasable). Every single day, before heading out to tackle life, I remind myself that I am blossoming into an amazing young woman that has so much to offer the world. In looking deeper into my own self-love, I had to make three important notes to self:

  • Appreciate your reflection.

When was the last time you looked in the mirror and truly appreciated everything you saw? Every blemish, every weight gain, every weight loss, every frizzy hair.. okay maybe not those – frizz is never a friend. But you get my point. While brushing your teeth look at that person that stands before you- are you doing everything you can to truly love the life you’re living and your imperfections? Guys, this goes for you all as well. Are you content with who you are or are you faking the funk to fit in and appease those around you? #QTNA

  • Let your words speak life.

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it one thousand times: words. mean. things. Now, I’m not trying to get all spiritual on you, but a little of God goes a long way. One of my favorite bible verses is Psalm 27:5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. Knowing that with God anything is possible, I am able to find joy from within even in the toughest of times. Speaking life is taking the time to release positivity into your world and the people around you. It is acknowledging that God has a greater purpose for your life and with a dollop of positivity, you are trusting in that life and seeking to live it. You will ultimately find yourself much more fulfilled with Him. But you gotta know who you are and whose you are. Ooh! Come on somebody.

  • Stop looking for love of self in other people.

The last of the gems but the hardest to defeat. It’s time you stop compromising your sanity. Stop sacrificing your voice. When your love of self is strong, no man on this Earth can keep you down for too long. Stop expecting people to come into your life and fill your cup. Their love should be the icing on top of the complete cake you created alone. Show them the love you are already supplying from within. Be your own peace of mind.

Today’s Keyword: euphoria |yo͞oˈfôrēə| (n.) : a feeling or state of intense excitement and happiness

Taking the time to put a value on love from the inside-out rather than trying to grab love from any direction possible from the outside-in, will lead to euphoria seeping though your pores. I gotta make it happen, so I am determined to love me first. Being selfish isn’t always a bad thing- when done correctly.

so hey, save some of you for you.

Self-love is,

This read definitely resignated with me the most , for I am guilty of many of these bullets and lacking some appreciation for my process, lacking self love and believing that I am enough for this world, for this industry. Love you!
